You can experience making Udon by yourself! “Nara Machi Mitsui”
Nara Machi Mitsui starts to serve a new Muslim Friendly menu which is Tempura Udon. This shop also offers guests to experience making Udon from scratch with the help and guidance in English by the owner. Firstly, the flour and salt water were mixed and stirred.
Gradually continue pouring the salt water as needed. Secondly, knead the dough into a ball shape before putting into a plastic bag. Traditionally, we continue to knead the by using feet until it becomes smooth, approximately five times alternated by shaping the dough into a ball shape.
It might be a bad manner to knead the dough by using feet, however, it is a Japanese traditional style of kneading the dough until smooth. But if it is uncomfortable for you to use your feet, you can choose to knead the dough by using hands. After the dough become smooth, we stretch the dough by using a rolling pin.
Finally, you can cut the dough with a special kitchen knife by yourself.
If you are scared to use the knife, the staff will help you out. After finish cutting the dough, the staff will boil the noodles and fry Tempura too!
