The humanitarian crisis in Gaza deepens as starvation claims the lives of dozens of Palestinians, predominantly children, the sick, and the elderly, due to Israel’s ongoing blockade now in its third month. The blockade severely restricts the entry of food, water, and other essential aid. UNICEF reports a staggering 9,000 children have been admitted for treatment for acute malnutrition since the beginning of the year.
The UN Palestinian refugee agency (UNRWA) reports approximately 3,000 aid trucks remain stuck at Gaza’s border, unable to deliver critical supplies due to the persistent blockade. The Gaza Government Media Office has reported the rising death toll from starvation, painting a grim picture of the blockade’s impact on the civilian population.
In the past 48 hours, Israeli forces have killed at least 70 Palestinians and wounded 275 others in attacks across the Gaza Strip, according to the enclave’s Health Ministry. Seven bodies were recovered from the rubble of previous attacks. In addition, two women were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a house near Khan Younis, and a fisherman was killed with another injured by an Israeli naval attack off the coast of Gaza City. Two Palestinians were killed in a drone attack on the al-Mawasi area in southern Gaza.
Meanwhile, in the West Bank, Israel is planning to demolish 106 homes in refugee camps, exacerbating the already dire humanitarian situation. The international community is increasingly concerned about the escalating violence and the severe restrictions on aid, prompting urgent calls for a ceasefire and the lifting of the blockade to prevent further loss of life and suffering.
