The United Nations has issued a stark warning regarding the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, stating that the amount of aid reaching the besieged territory is “nowhere near enough” to meet the critical needs of its population. This announcement comes as the death toll from the ongoing conflict has tragically exceeded 61,700, according to the Government Media Office, with thousands more still missing under the rubble.
Medical sources reported at least 51 people killed in Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip. Al Jazeera Arabic reported three people killed and several injured in an Israeli airstrike south of Deir el-Balah in central Gaza.
The UN reports that 90 lorry loads of aid are now in Gaza after a three-day delay at a crossing. Despite these efforts, a UN spokesperson emphasized that the current level of assistance is grossly inadequate. The UN has been facing significant challenges in delivering aid, with UN aid workers awaiting permission from Israel to distribute five trucks of aid that entered Gaza earlier in the week after an 11-week blockade. Although 100 aid trucks were approved to enter Gaza on Tuesday, this is far below the 600 trucks needed daily to address the escalating crisis.
International condemnation continues to mount. According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, Israel’s war on Gaza has killed at least 53,655 Palestinians and wounded 121,950.
Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu stated Israel will control “all of Gaza” after the latest offensive and outlined maximalist conditions for ending the war.
