Halal Industry Growth

Deputy Minister of Industry Faisol Riza emphasized the critical need to fortify the halal industry ecosystem during the launch of the Halal Indo 2025 expo in Jakarta. The country’s commitment is further evidenced by its improved ranking in the global Islamic economy, now standing at third place according to the State of the Global Islamic Economy Report 2023/2024. However, Indonesia isn’t the only player vying for a piece of the halal pie. Afghanistan’s business sector has expressed strong interest in participating in Russia’s upcoming Kazan Halal Expo and Forum, indicating a broader trend of countries recognizing the economic potential of the halal market.

Halal Certification Standards

It’s worth noting that approaches to halal certification vary globally. A recent US report highlighted that Malaysia’s halal certification requirements for imported meat and animal-based products are stricter than global practices. This divergence in standards presents both challenges and opportunities for businesses navigating the international halal market.
