In the aftermath of a 20-day Israeli offensive, emergency crews and civil defense teams have recovered over 120 Palestinian bodies from the rubble of Jabalia camp in northern Gaza. The grim discovery was made on destroyed roads and under collapsed buildings, two days after Israeli forces withdrew from the area on Friday, according to medical sources at Kamal Adwan Hospital.

Ongoing Conflict and Casualties

The ongoing conflict continues to claim lives, with at least 43 people killed in Israeli attacks since early Friday. Airstrikes across Gaza have resulted in numerous fatalities, including women and children, exacerbating the already dire humanitarian situation. The UN Palestinian refugee agency (UNRWA) reports that nearly 3,000 aid trucks are currently waiting at Gaza’s border, unable to enter due to the Israeli blockade. This blockade has prompted Gaza’s Health Ministry to appeal to the UN to declare a famine in the region, as health officials report that 92% of children and pregnant women in Gaza suffer from severe malnutrition.

Humanitarian Crisis Deepens

Adding to the crisis, a Gaza Freedom Flotilla ship, carrying aid and pro-Palestinian activists, was hit by a drone in international waters off Malta. The Freedom Flotilla Coalition has accused Israel or its allies of the attack. Meanwhile, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) has concluded public hearings addressing Israel’s obligations regarding the entry of UN agencies and other relief groups into the Palestinian territories. The world watches as Gaza teeters on the brink of a full-blown famine, with aid desperately needed and the international community grappling with how to ensure its delivery.
